Open 10.0.0.1

Opens a local address in a new tab. Your device must be connected to that network.

How to access 10.0.0.1

  1. Connect to the gateway’s main Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.
  2. Type http://10.0.0.1 in the browser address bar.
  3. Sign in using the local admin credentials for your gateway. Do not assume they match your internet-provider account.

Xfinity: check whether Admin Tool access is enabled

Xfinity’s current instructions say you may need to allow Admin Tool access using the Xfinity app before opening 10.0.0.1. Follow the provider’s Admin Tool access instructions for the applicable gateway.

Available controls can differ by gateway and configuration. If your Wi-Fi settings are managed in the app, use that route instead of repeatedly retrying a disabled local page.

10.0.0.1 is not 10.0.0.0.1

An IPv4 address has four number groups. 10.0.0.0.1 has five and is not valid. Use 10.0.0.1, without an extra zero, spaces, or a “www” prefix.

What if my gateway has another address?

The 10.0.0.0/8 range is reserved for private networks. That does not make every router in that range reachable at 10.0.0.1. Read the gateway address from your connected device and use the address it reports.

The address opens, but I can’t log in

Check that you are looking at your own router’s interface. Use the local admin password created during setup or documented for your model. If a changed password is lost, follow the manufacturer or ISP’s recovery process. A factory reset can remove settings needed for your internet connection.
