MikroTik’s current quickstart uses HTTPS at 192.168.88.1 for WebFig. This applies to its documented default-configuration arrangement. A professionally configured device or one with minimal/no defaults may have another management route.
Use this local link only when it matches your own equipment and network. RouterEntry does not detect your gateway or collect passwords.
Connect on the documented LAN side
The quickstart directs a computer to an Ethernet port other than ether1. Follow the exact model and existing configuration rather than assuming every port is interchangeable. The manual also offers WinBox and the MikroTik mobile app as management alternatives.
Read the device-specific password
The current quickstart uses username admin with the unique password on the device sticker or box. Use the current account if changed. Do not apply old blank-password advice universally, or confuse a wireless key with the management password.
Local management and internet access are different checks
Reaching WebFig verifies that you can reach the local management interface; it does not establish working WAN service. Inspect your current configuration before making changes, and use internet-connection diagnostics for a separate service problem.
If HTTPS does not open, confirm the LAN connection and actual gateway. A changed or absent default configuration needs its configured access method. Do not erase or overwrite an existing setup just to restore this address. Continue with failed-access help and the official first-time guide where appropriate.
