The FRITZ!Box 7590 manual documents 169.254.1.1 as a fixed emergency management address. The access action below is for that device and its wired procedure. It is not a replacement default gateway for arbitrary equipment.
Use this local link only when it matches your own equipment and network. RouterEntry does not detect your gateway or collect passwords.
Follow the exact wired procedure
The manual’s page 293 requires a computer connected by network cable, without LAN guest access. It directs you to disconnect the box from other network devices, remove the computer’s Wi-Fi connection to it, connect the computer to LAN 2, restart the computer and open this address.
Plan that temporary interruption before disconnecting anything, especially on a shared network, and preserve your original cabling. Check the linked manual for your exact model rather than applying this 7590 procedure to another device.
Emergency access still requires your password
Use the current local FRITZ!Box password or configured user. The unchanged initial device password is on its label; it is distinct from the Wi-Fi key. This address does not bypass authentication or restore forgotten credentials.
Prefer ordinary access when it works
Try the documented 192.168.178.1 or fritz.box route on the main network first. Your current gateway describes normal routing; it does not discover this emergency address.
If the wired procedure fails, check the cable, port and exact model before using local-access diagnostics. Consult the 7590 guide for password recovery. Do not change network modes or factory-reset simply because an emergency address does not respond.
