Check the exact product name on your equipment. This page covers Hub 5. Virgin Media’s current modem-mode guide explicitly excludes Hub 5x, so do not apply the Hub 5 modem-mode procedure to it.
Which local address should you open?
| Current mode | Management address |
|---|---|
| Router mode | 192.168.0.1 ↗ |
| Modem mode, already enabled | 192.168.100.1 ↗ |
Connect to your home equipment first. Modem mode lets a separate router provide your Wi-Fi; changing that router’s Wi-Fi settings is a different task from opening the Hub interface.
Use the settings password
Enter the current Hub settings password. The original is printed underneath the Hub and is distinct from its Wi-Fi password. A changed settings password replaces the original for login.
Change the Hub’s Wi-Fi name or password
In router mode, Virgin Media directs you through Advanced settings → Wireless → Security. Review the intended changes before applying them, and reconnect devices if their Wi-Fi credentials change. Do not enable modem mode just to fix a password problem.
If you cannot get back in
Confirm which device you are managing and whether modem mode was enabled. If the label password fails, check whether the settings password was changed. Read recovery options before resetting anything.
For a restart, Virgin Media describes switching the Hub off for 10 seconds and allowing 5–10 minutes after power returns. A factory reset is separate and removes custom settings. Follow the official procedure below if recovery genuinely requires it.
Login works but internet does not?
Opening a local management page only demonstrates local access. Use our device-versus-service checklist to decide what to check next.
Check access for this model
For Hub 5, router mode uses 192.168.0.1; already-enabled modem mode uses 192.168.100.1. Check the mode and which router provides your Wi-Fi.
When a password is rejected
Check your saved Hub settings password. The printed original does not replace a changed password. Review Virgin Media’s Hub recovery instructions before a factory reset.
Use Virgin Media’s official account-recovery route for your provider account. It does not recover the Hub’s local settings password.

When several devices lose internet
Check Virgin Media’s service status and the Hub 5 guidance. If you use modem mode, include the separate router when comparing wired and wireless connections.
