Check your equipment

Match RT-AX58U and the hardware details on the label to its ASUS support page. This guide uses ASUS’s current family sign-in instructions; the linked RT-AX58U manual covers its hardware.

Open ASUS RT-AX58U settings

Connect directly to your ASUS network or a LAN port. ASUS currently documents www.asusrouter.com or the router’s actual LAN IP for Web GUI access. Read the gateway if a saved address does not open.

Which password does this screen need?

Enter the router-management account created during setup. First-time screens can ask you to create it. The wireless password and your provider’s connection credentials are separate.

Wi-Fi settings

Open the wireless controls in ASUSWRT and inspect whether Smart Connect is enabled before editing the network name. ASUS documents different screens across firmware generations. Follow the screenshot matching your interface and reconnect devices after a saved password change.

A second ASUS device may not be the gateway

If the RT-AX58U is an access point or part of AiMesh, your device’s gateway may identify the upstream router. Check the main router’s device list or ASUS’s documented discovery route to locate the intended unit. Do not reset a working access point because another address opens.

If you cannot sign in

Check saved management credentials and confirm you are accessing this router. ASUS’s lost-credential guidance may require a factory reset; consult the RT-AX58U manual and prepare to restore internet settings before doing that.

If the screen asks for a ASUS account, use account recovery in the official app or website. Confirm that account manages this network. Resetting the equipment is not a way to recover an online account.

If internet access fails too

Compare another device on the same network. One device failing and every device failing need different checks. Note any equipment error and consult your provider when the shared connection remains unavailable.
