Open ASUS RT-AX86U Pro settings

Join the router’s home network, then use its current LAN address or ASUS’s documented www.asusrouter.com hostname. A browser connected by mobile data will not reach your local router through that route.

Which password does this screen need?

Use the current ASUSWRT administrator account. A factory label only describes an unchanged initial configuration; a Wi-Fi password is not automatically the management password.

Wi-Fi settings

Check the current firmware’s wireless screen and Smart Connect setting before editing Wi-Fi details. Apply one intended change, then reconnect using the new network credentials. Consult ASUS’s illustrated Smart Connect guide if the interface differs.

Confirm the device role and connected port

The Pro model includes a 2.5G port and AiMesh support. Those features do not prove that this unit is the active internet gateway. Identify its role in the network before changing WAN, gaming or mesh settings to address a login problem.

If you cannot sign in

Verify the intended router and any saved ASUSWRT account first. ASUS cannot retrieve a changed local password. If its official recovery guidance requires a reset, preserve the information needed to rebuild your network before following the model’s procedure.

If the screen asks for a ASUS account, use account recovery in the official app or website. Confirm that account manages this network. Resetting the equipment is not a way to recover an online account.

If internet access fails too

Compare another device on the same network. One device failing and every device failing need different checks. Note any equipment error and consult your provider when the shared connection remains unavailable.
