These Smart Wi-Fi steps cover the Linksys WHW0x, MXxxx and MRxxx series named in the linked login article. Check the complete model number and installed mode before continuing.
Normal router mode
- Connect a desktop computer to the main mesh network.
- Open myrouter.local or https://192.168.1.1.
- Choose the local router-password path and use the current router password.
The local administrator password, Wi-Fi password and Linksys account sign-in are separate credentials. Use the value requested by the verified local interface.
Recover the local router password
If the supported interface offers Reset Password, follow it and use the recovery key printed underneath the router connected to the modem. This recovery-key route is not a physical reset and does not apply merely because a product carries the Velop name.
If the mesh is already in Bridge Mode
In Bridge Mode, myrouter.local and 192.168.1.1 no longer identify the parent node. Find the parent node’s current LAN address in the Linksys app or the upstream gateway’s client list, then open https://<current-IP>. Do not enter or leave Bridge Mode as a login repair: changing mode affects the whole mesh and available features.
LinksysNOW products use different instructions
Do not use the steps above for LN1600 series products—including Velop Micro 7—or for SPNM60 and SPNM62. Linksys documents those products under LinksysNOW with different hostnames and password behavior. Linksys also states that LN1600 does not use the Linksys app.
Still cannot reach the sign-in screen?
Recheck the exact model, main-network connection, current operating mode and gateway address. A guest connection may be isolated. Follow the connection troubleshooting steps before considering a reset, and do not erase a working mesh merely to restore a familiar hostname.
