Open R6700v3 settings

Connect locally by Ethernet or Wi-Fi, then enter routerlogin.net in the browser address bar. The manual also lists routerlogin.com and 192.168.1.1. The numeric address is the unchanged default, not a promise about a changed LAN. If HTTPS was required by the owner, the router can redirect the hostname to HTTPS; do not invent a raw-IP HTTPS route. In access point or bridge mode, use the address assigned on the current network. Check power, the local connection and automatic address assignment before changing settings.

Choose the right password

Use the case-sensitive username admin with the current administrator password created at first login. The label Wi-Fi key, an ISP login and a NETGEAR account are different credentials. The documented factory password applies only while factory settings are unchanged or after a destructive factory reset; it is not a universal current password.

Change Wi-Fi details

Sign in locally and select Wireless. In the intended 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz section, edit Name (SSID) or Password (Network Key), keep security enabled and select Apply. Save the replacement details first and use Ethernet when practical because applying a wireless change can disconnect the editing device. Reconnect affected devices with the updated name and key.

Reset administrator access before erasing settings

Administrator-password reset works only if password reset was enabled beforehand and the two saved security-question answers are available. Connect locally and open routerlogin.net. The documented flow uses Cancel, this router’s label serial number and Continue, then the saved answers, a new administrator password and new questions before Next or Login. Current screens can branch after failed sign-ins; follow the interface shown on the verified local router. This resets local administrator access; it does not reveal the old password. If recovery was not enabled or the answers are unavailable, consult exact-model NETGEAR support before erasing settings. A factory reset deletes custom network and ISP configuration. The exact manual itself conflicts on Reset-button duration, so this guide deliberately gives no timing.

The serial number and security answers belong only in this router’s local recovery screen. This route does not recover the Wi-Fi key, ISP credentials or a NETGEAR account. Never send those details to RouterEntry.

Inspect status without changing the router

Open ADVANCED Home and inspect router information, Internet-port state and Wi-Fi status without selecting Release, Renew, Apply, Erase, update or reset controls. If the Internet-port address is 0.0.0.0, the router has not obtained a WAN address; check the modem cable and provider requirements before changing wireless or administrator passwords. If the local page itself does not open, verify the same network, current assigned address and client DHCP state instead of scanning devices.
