Match model RAX20 on the label and use the January 2023 RAX20 manual. Do not transfer these instructions to another AX1800 router or an unlisted hardware revision.
Open NETGEAR RAX20 settings
Connect by RAX20 Wi-Fi or a LAN Ethernet port, then open routerlogin.net. The manual also lists routerlogin.com and 192.168.1.1. If its LAN address changed, use the current local address.

Which password does the page need?
The local browser username is admin. Use the case-sensitive password chosen at first setup. A factory-default admin password is relevant only before it has been changed; the label Wi-Fi key, NETGEAR account and ISP login have different purposes.
Change the Wi-Fi password
After local sign-in, select Wireless. In the intended 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz section, replace Password (Network Key), leave security enabled, and select Apply. The manual documents an 8–63 character phrase for the listed WPA2 or mixed WPA/WPA2 options. Reconnect affected devices.
The router page and the internet connection are separate checks
If routerlogin.net opens but internet access fails, review the Internet settings and provider-supplied information rather than changing the local admin or Wi-Fi password. If the local page does not open, confirm the device is connected to this RAX20 and try a LAN connection.
Recover local administrator access
Password reset must have been enabled earlier under Advanced → Administration → Set Password, with two security answers saved. Cancel the routerlogin.net sign-in prompt, enter the serial number from the label, answer those questions, then set and use a replacement admin password. If recovery was not prepared, check saved credentials before a factory reset. Resetting erases configured settings; keep the ISP and custom network details needed to rebuild the connection, and do not interrupt the router while it restarts.
A NETGEAR account and the RAX20 local admin login are separate. The manual's serial-number/security-question flow concerns only local admin access.

Choose the next diagnostic
Compare another connected device, check the Ethernet connection to the modem, and note whether the Wi-Fi LED is off. A 169.254.x.x client address means that device did not obtain an address from the router. If RAX20 is in access-point mode, identify its upstream-assigned address before using a destructive reset merely to find it.
