Open NETGEAR Nighthawk RAX80 settings

Connect by RAX80 Wi-Fi or a LAN Ethernet port, then enter routerlogin.net in the browser address bar. The manual also lists routerlogin.com and 192.168.1.1. These are local-router destinations. If none opens, confirm the connection to this router, disconnect another active network or VPN, reopen the browser, and check that the client receives an address automatically before considering a reset.

This local hostname works only while connected to your own router network.

Which password does the page need?

The local browser username is admin. Use the case-sensitive router administrator password chosen during setup. The label Wi-Fi key joins the network; a NETGEAR account and ISP login serve other purposes. The factory value is relevant only after a confirmed reset, not as a universal current password.

Change the Wi-Fi password

After local sign-in, select Wireless. Check the intended 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz section, then edit Name (SSID) or Password (Network Key), keep security enabled, and select Apply. Record the new details first and use Ethernet when practical because a wireless editing device can disconnect. Rejoin affected devices with the saved name and key.

The local page and the internet connection are separate checks

If the page does not open, verify the device-to-RAX80 connection and current administrator credential. If the page opens but websites do not, leave the admin and Wi-Fi passwords unchanged while you inspect the Internet-port status and provider connection.

Recover local administrator access

Try non-destructive administrator recovery before erasing the router. It works only when password reset was enabled earlier and the two saved security answers are available. Open routerlogin.net, follow the recovery screen shown by the installed interface, and use the serial number from the RAX80 label only in that local flow. The May 2022 manual uses Cancel at the login prompt before the serial-number questions; newer NETGEAR support describes a screen after failed attempts. If recovery is not available, preserve ISP and custom network details and consult the exact manual or NETGEAR Support before a factory reset. Resetting erases personalized settings and requires setup again. Keep power connected and do not interrupt the restart. Official NETGEAR sources conflict on the button procedure, so this guide deliberately gives no hold time.

A NETGEAR account is separate from the RAX80 local administrator login. Serial-number and security-question recovery concerns local access and does not recover the online account.

Choose the next diagnostic

First check whether another device reaches the local page. If local access works but the internet does not, open Advanced and inspect the Internet-port address. A value of 0.0.0.0 means no WAN address was obtained. Check the modem-to-router cable, then use the manual's restart order: power off and unplug the modem, power off the router, start the modem and wait two minutes, then start the router and wait two minutes. If the WAN address remains absent, confirm provider login, host-name, or MAC requirements. With a WAN address present, continue to DNS and default-gateway checks.
