Open NETGEAR Nighthawk RAXE500 settings

Connect by RAXE500 Wi-Fi or a LAN Ethernet port, then enter routerlogin.net in the browser address bar. The exact manual also lists routerlogin.com and 192.168.1.1. These are local-router destinations, so first confirm the device is connected to this RAXE500. If the page does not open, check power and the connection, reopen or clear the browser, and make sure the client obtains an address automatically before reset. The Nighthawk app supports installation and some management on iOS or Android; use the browser route for the exact menu instructions on this page.

This local hostname works only while connected to your own router network.

Which password does the page need?

The browser username is admin. Use the case-sensitive administrator password chosen during first setup. The label Wi-Fi password joins the preset network; a NETGEAR account registers the router and manages subscriptions; an ISP login connects to the provider. These are separate credentials. The documented factory password is relevant only after a confirmed factory reset.

Change the Wi-Fi password

After local browser sign-in, select Wireless. Check the intended 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz section, replace its Password (Network Key), keep security enabled, and select Apply. Save the replacement first and use Ethernet when practical because the editing device can disconnect as a wireless change is applied. Rejoin affected devices with the new key. Do not assume all three bands changed, and use the manual's browser route when app screens differ.

Check the exact band and credential before changing anything

The RAXE500 exposes separate 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz settings. A device can be connected to one while you inspect another. If the local page works but websites do not, move to the WAN check instead of repeatedly changing admin or Wi-Fi passwords.

Recover local administrator access

Try non-destructive local recovery before erasing the router. It requires Enable Password Recovery to have been selected earlier and both saved security answers. From a browser connected to this RAXE500, open routerlogin.net, select Cancel, enter the serial number from its label, answer the saved questions, then use the displayed administrator password to sign in. The April 2021 manual supports this flow in Chrome and Firefox but explicitly excludes Safari; installed firmware and current browser support can differ. If recovery is unavailable, preserve ISP, Wi-Fi, addressing, and other custom settings before considering a factory reset. Reset erases those settings, restores the label SSID and factory local access, and requires setup and device reconnection. Keep power connected and do not interrupt restart. The exact manual conflicts between its reset-procedure and factory-settings hold times, so this guide gives no timing; check current exact-model NETGEAR support before using the button.

The NETGEAR account used by the Nighthawk app is separate from the RAXE500 local administrator login. Serial-number and security-question recovery in the local browser does not recover the online account.

Choose the next diagnostic

If local settings open but the internet does not, open Advanced and inspect the Internet-port address. A value of 0.0.0.0 means the RAXE500 did not obtain a WAN address. Check the modem cable, then use the exact manual's restart sequence before changing configuration. If the address remains absent, confirm provider login, host-name, or MAC requirements. With a WAN address present, continue to DNS and default-gateway checks.
